Customizing the Snorkl Toolbar for Students

Learn how to customize the Snorkl toolbar so students only see the tools you want them to use during Whiteboard Recording or Whiteboard Only activities.

You can choose which tools appear on the student toolbar for Whiteboard Recording or Whiteboard Only activities. This helps keep students focused on the tools that best fit your activity.

How to Customize the Toolbar

  1. When creating or editing an activity, locate the Student Response Type section.

  2. Click the gear icon ⚙️ to the right of the “Whiteboard Recording” option.

This opens the Configure Whiteboard Tools menu.

  1. Use the toggles to enable or disable specific tools.

    • ✏️ Pen Tool – for drawing and writing.

    • Text Tool – for typing responses.

    • Shape Tool – for creating circles, squares, and more.

    • Highlighter – for emphasizing key areas.

    • Equation Tool – for inserting math notation.

    • Image Tool – for adding images.

    • Line Tool – for drawing straight lines.

    • Laser Pointer – for presenting or pointing during a recording.

  2. Under Initially Active Tool, select which tool students will start with when they open the activity:

    • Select Tool (default cursor)

    • Pen Tool

    • Highlighter

  3. Click Save to apply your settings.

Tip: Click Reset to Defaults anytime to restore the original toolbar setup.
