If Snorkl isn’t picking up your voice, the issue is usually with your device or browser microphone settings, not the app itself. Here’s how to check both and get back to recording.
🧩 Step 1: Check Device Microphone Settings
Most laptops, tablets, and phones have built-in microphones that are enabled by default—but it’s worth confirming:
Windows: Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and make sure microphone access is turned on for your browser.
Mac: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and ensure your browser (e.g., Chrome) is allowed to use it.
iPad or Chromebook: Check system settings to confirm microphone permissions are granted to your browser.
🌐 Step 2: Check Browser Permissions (Especially in Chrome)
Snorkl runs in your web browser, which also manages microphone access separately.
If you’re using Google Chrome:
Click the lock or settings icon in the address bar next to the Snorkl URL.
Look for “Microphone” or "Site Settings" in the dropdown menu.
Select “Allow”.
Refresh the page and try accessing the activity again.
You can also manage this via:
chrome://settings/content/microphone
Ensure Snorkl’s site is listed under Allowed to use your microphone.
🎧 Step 3: Try a Different Input
If the microphone still isn’t picking up sound:
Plug in headphones with a built-in mic or a USB headset.
Check your device’s sound input menu to confirm the correct microphone is selected.
If using Bluetooth, make sure it’s connected and recognized as an input device, not just for audio output.
🔄 Step 4: Restart and Retest
Close all other apps or browser tabs that may be using the microphone (Zoom, Meet, etc.).
Refresh Snorkl and test again.
If problems persist, try another browser (like Edge or Safari) or restart your device.
