District IT Permissions and Setup

Secure sign-on and setup instructions for district IT teams.

Updated this week

Snorkl utilizes Google & Microsoft SSO systems to ensure secure, easy access for teachers and students. Below are the setup requirements and permissions your IT team will need to enable student sign-in.

🔐 Single Sign-On (SSO) Options

Google Sign-On

For districts using Google Workspace for Education, Snorkl connects via Google Sign-On (SSO).

To enable this connection, Google Trusted Access must be turned on.

  • Action Required: Your district IT administrator must enable Google Trusted Access for Snorkl. Learn more.

  • ID: If you have trouble locating Snorkl in the Google Admin directory, please reach out to [email protected] for Snorkl's ID Number.

Once enabled, Snorkl users will be able to sign in using their district Google accounts without any additional passwords or setup.

Microsoft Sign-On

For districts using Microsoft 365, Snorkl supports authentication through Microsoft Sign-On (Azure Active Directory).

  • Action Required: Ensure Snorkl has been approved as an authorized application within your district’s Azure AD enterprise applications.

  • Snorkl requests standard permissions necessary for authentication and user profile information (name, email).

Once approved, staff and students can log in with their district Microsoft credentials.

🛡️ Data Privacy and Security

Snorkl is committed to protecting student data and complying with all relevant privacy laws, including FERPA, COPPA, and state-specific data privacy agreements.

  • We are happy to sign a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) with your district.

  • Snorkl is used in all 50 U.S. states and meets or exceeds state-level student data privacy standards. We're proud to be iKeepSafe Certified & Common Sense Privacy Verified.
