Updating an Activity During or After Student Work

Edit an assigned activity while students are working or after they’ve submitted, and regenerate feedback to reflect your changes.

How to Edit an Activity That’s Already Assigned

You can update an activity even after students have submitted their responses. New submissions will use your updated activity, and you can rerun feedback on existing responses using Regenerate Feedback.

We recommend trying an activity as a student before assigning it, but you can still make changes whenever you need to.

If you make edits to an activity that’s already been assigned, here’s what to know:

  1. Edit within the assigned activity.

Navigate to your class → click the activity → go to the Edit tab.

Make your changes here so they apply to the assigned version your students are using.

  2. Sync your changes to other copies, if needed.

If you also want your edits to apply to copies of the activity in other classes or templates, use the Sync button.

→ Learn more about syncing changes here.

  3. How edits affect student work.

What happens next depends on when students submit:

    • New submissions: Responses submitted after your edits will automatically see any any changes to the prompt and receive feedback based on the updated activity.

    • Already submitted responses: Existing feedback won’t update automatically. Open each response you want to update and click Regenerate Feedback to rerun feedback using the updated activity.

You can regenerate feedback even after students have finished and submitted their work.

    • Tip: Use your keyboard arrow keys to move quickly between student responses.
