Adding Audio to a Snorkl Whiteboard

Learn how to upload or record audio clips directly on the Snorkl whiteboard so students can listen to instructions, prompts, or hints.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Teachers can add audio clips directly to the whiteboard for students to listen to while working on an activity. This is great for providing verbal instructions, reading a prompt aloud, supporting multilingual learners, or adding hints for students.

You can either upload an existing audio file or record your own audio directly inside Snorkl.

How to Add Audio to the Whiteboard

  1. Open the whiteboard while creating or editing an activity.

  2. Click the Audio button (microphone icon) in the whiteboard toolbar.

  3. A window will appear where you can choose to:

    • Browse files to upload an audio file from your device

      • Supported file types for audio upload: MP3, MP4, M4A, OGG, and WebM

    • Select Audio to record a clip using your microphone.

Recording Audio in Snorkl

If you choose to record audio:

  1. Click the red microphone button to start recording.

  2. Speak your instructions or message.

  3. Click the stop button when finished.

  4. You can play the recording back to preview it.

  5. Choose:

    • ✔ Accept to add it to the whiteboard, or

    • ✖ Re-record if you'd like to try again.

What Students Will See

Once added, the audio will appear as a small audio chip on the whiteboard.

Students can click the chip to play the audio while working.

You can:

  • Move audio chips anywhere on the whiteboard.

  • Add multiple audio clips to the same activity if needed.

💡 Tip: Audio clips are helpful for students who benefit from hearing instructions read aloud. They’re also great for World Language and English Language Development activities, allowing teachers to record prompts or vocabulary in the target language for students to listen to as they work.
