Word Count and Recording Limits

Learn about the character limits in text boxes, recording length limits, and submission limits in Snorkl activities.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Sometimes teachers ask about different limits within Snorkl activities — such as how long students can record, how much text can be added to the whiteboard, or how many submissions students can make.

Below is a quick overview of the current limits across different activity types.

Whiteboard Text Box Limit

Whiteboard text boxes have a limit of 1,400 characters.

This limit applies to all activity types that use the whiteboard, including:

  • Whiteboard Recording responses

  • Whiteboard Only responses

  • Audio Only

Writing Activity Text Limit

For Writing Activities types, students can write up to 40,000 characters in their response.

Student Recording Time Length

Student recordings (for Audio Only or Whiteboard Recording activities) can be up to 20 minutes per submission.

Number of Student Submissions

If an activity is set to Unlimited Attempts, students can submit up to:

50 responses per activity

💡 Tip: If a student reaches the 50-response limit and needs additional attempts, teachers can delete one of the student’s previous submissions to free up space for another response.
