Snorkl's MCP (Model Context Protocol) server lets you connect your Snorkl account directly to AI assistants like Claude. Once connected, you can ask questions about your classes, assignments, and student progress in plain language — no exporting, no copying and pasting. You can even find and assign new activities without leaving the conversation.
What can I do with it?
With the Snorkl MCP server connected to an AI assistant, you can:
View your classes — Ask "What classes do I have?" to get a list of your active classes.
See assignments — Ask about the assignments in any class, including prompt details and expected responses.
Check student progress — Get a summary of how students are scoring across assignments, including scores, correctness, and number of attempts.
Review student work — Dig into the AI feedback given to individual students, read transcripts of what they said in their recordings, or view the whiteboard drawings they submitted.
Find new activities — Search the Snorkl library, your school's library, or your own saved activities by subject and grade level.
Assign activities — Assign an activity to a class or specific students, with start and due dates. You'll always see a preview and confirm before anything is assigned.

How does it work?
MCP is a standard that allows AI assistants to securely connect to external tools and data sources. When you connect Snorkl's MCP server, the AI can look up your real Snorkl data in real time — your classes, your assignments, and your students' responses.
Your data is only accessed when you ask a question. The AI does not continuously monitor your account.
For actions that change something in Snorkl — like assigning an activity — the AI always shows you exactly what it's about to do and waits for your confirmation before making the change.
How to connect Snorkl to an AI assistant
Claude (Desktop App)
Open the Claude desktop app and go to Settings → Capabilities → Plugins.
Search for Snorkl in the plugin directory and install it.
When prompted, sign in with your Snorkl teacher account to authorize the connection.
Once connected, start a new conversation and ask about your classes.
Tip: You'll know it's working when Claude can list your classes by name.
Other AI assistants
Snorkl's MCP server follows the open MCP standard. If your AI tool supports MCP, contact Snorkl support at [email protected] to get your MCP server connection details.
Privacy & data security
The MCP server only has access to data associated with your teacher account.
Student data is only surfaced when you actively request it in a conversation.
Snorkl does not store your conversation history with the AI assistant.
All connections use secure, authenticated access.
Frequently asked questions
Do my students need to do anything to set this up? No. The MCP connection is set up on your teacher account only. Students are not affected.
Can the AI assistant change or delete my Snorkl data? The AI can create new assignments on your behalf — and only after showing you a preview and getting your confirmation. It cannot edit or delete anything: it can't remove assignments, change scores or feedback, modify student responses, or alter your classes or rosters.
What happens after the AI assigns an activity? The assignment appears in Snorkl just as if you had created it yourself, and the AI gives you a join link for each class so you can share it with students. You can manage or remove the assignment in Snorkl at any time.
What if I don't see my most recent data? The MCP server returns your most recently updated classes and assignments. If something is missing, try asking again or check that the assignment is active in Snorkl.
Is this available on all Snorkl plans? MCP access is included in all Snorkl plans for teachers. All you need is a Snorkl teacher account.
