Understanding Flagged Student Responses

Snorkl automatically flags student responses that mention self-harm or harm to others. These flags help educators identify potential student safety concerns and take appropriate action.

🚩 Where to Find Flagged Responses

When Snorkl flags a student response or Snorkl Coach session, teachers will see two indicators:

  1. On the Activity's Responses page: A pink notification banner appears at the top, identifying the student whose response was flagged.

  2. On the individual student response: A red flag icon appears in the upper-right corner when viewing the flagged response.

Teachers can click into the response to review the student's work and AI feedback.

🔒 What Happens to a Flagged Response?

When a response is flagged:

  • Teachers can still access the full response, including the student's work, recording, and AI feedback.

  • Closed captions are hidden for the flagged response.

  • The response is hidden from other students if Collaboration is enabled.

  • Teachers can dismiss the flag notification from the activity's Responses page.

📩 Administrator Email Notifications

For school and district accounts, Snorkl can enable email notifications to administrators when student responses are flagged.

To request this feature, contact the Snorkl team at [email protected].

📌 Student Safety

A flagged response may indicate a potential student safety concern. Teachers and administrators should review flagged responses and follow their school's or district's established student safety and reporting procedures.

Note: A flag identifies a potential concern and does not necessarily indicate a confirmed safety incident.
